A New Radiological Classification for Massive Pulmonary Embolism (SPECS)
نویسندگان
چکیده
Materials/Methods The study was conducted using the radiology database to identify all patients who had a CT pulmonary angiogram during the 12 months of 2014. A total of 1923 CTPAs were conducted, of which 210 were reported as large PE. These were examined, those with a segmental PE or poor quality imaging were excluded, leaving 154, 91 (59%) females in the study. The classification assessed location of clot (L) in major pulmonary arteries (scores 1, 2 and 4), the degree of occlusion (o) (score 1,2 and 3) and the impact on the right ventricle (RVR) (scores 1,2 and 3). Interventricular septum morphology (S) was also assessed (scores 1, 2, 3 and 4). Multipliers were used obtain the total score, [(L × O) × RVR] + S. Maximum score 64. This score was correlated with clinical outcome.

Diagnosis of thromboembolic disease: Combined ventilation perfusion lung scan and compression ultrasonography
The clinical management of pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis of the legs are similar and requires prolonged anticoagulation therapy. The standard diagnostic approach in patients suspected of pulmonary embolism is ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) lung scan and compression ultrasonography to detect deep venous thrombosis. This retrospective study analyzed the role of V/Q lung scan an...
متن کاملRole of paraclinical assessment in management of massive pulmonary embolism: A case report
Despite all the diagnosis and treatment processes of pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE), it is still associated with a high rate of mortality. We describe a massive PTE case of a 73-year-old woman with unusual clinical manifestations.
متن کاملPost Splenectomy Fatal Pulmonary Embolism in a Patient with Moderate Hemophilia A
Hemophilia A is a bleeding disorder caused by defective production of factor VIII. The main concern associated with the disease is bleeding, especially after trauma and surgeries. Factor VIII replacement therapy is associated with substantial decrease of bleeding events during surgery. However, there have been a number of reports of thromboemblic events in this situ-ation. The present report de...

Introduction: Pulmonary embolism is one of the leading causes of mortality in patients. The mortality rate of this disease can be significantly reduced with appropriate treatment. Surgical intervention can be highly effective for the treatment of acute massive pulmonary embolism. This article presents a report on the experience of acute pulmonary embolectomy. متن کاملA case of pulmonary vascular air embolism in a very-low-birth-weight infant with massive hydrops
Pulmonary vascular air embolism is a rare and, universally, almost a fatal complication of positive pressure ventilation in newborn infants. Here, we report a case of this unusual complication in a very-low-birth-weight infant who showed the clinical and radiological features of this complication along with pulmonary hypoplasia and massive hydrops. The possible pathogenesis has been discussed a...
